The Teachings of the Buddha
The main focus of the Healing Buddha Foundation is to spread
the teachings of Buddhism, which began 2500 years ago with
the enlightenment of Shakyamuni Buddha. The Buddha's teachings
were passed down in a pure oral tradition through the generations
of masters up to the teachers of our Foundation.
The Buddha taught that the root of all suffering is ignorance -
the mind which ignores the true nature of all things. From
this fundamental ignorance rises all other afflictions such as
anger, attachment, pride, jealousy, doubt and delusion.
To overcome these afflictions we need to cultivate virtuous
thoughts through study and meditation. When all obscurations
and their imprints have been removed we attain the ultimate
happiness of enlightenment. The highest motivation for engaging
in this spiritual practice is bodhicitta - the compassionate wish
to attain enlightenment in order to free all beings from suffering.
The Buddhist path is simple, yet vast and profound. Therefore,
Ven. Segyu Rinpoche emphasizes the study and practice of the Lam
Rim - The Graduated Path to Enlightenment by Lama Je Tsongkhapa.
The Lam Rim is a step-by-step method for progressing on the
path to enlightenment and contains the essence of Buddha's 84,000
of types teachings.
Buddhism is a path of great joy that brings meaning to everyday life.
